The first step towards a healthier smile
No matter which office you choose, you’ll be greeted warmly when you arrive. Dr. Scaffidi will perform an oral examination and take x rays if required. While observing your teeth, gums, and mouth, he may also ask if you’ve had any problems with chewing, swallowing, or opening and closing your mouth. The information obtained from your history, exam, and images will allow Dr. Scaffidi to make an initial diagnosis and recommend the best course of treatment for you.
We never want you to feel rushed through an appointment, especially your initial consultation! You can expect it to last a little longer than most visits, usually about an hour. That’s because we make time to discuss your diagnosis, the orthodontic process itself, and address any questions or concerns you may have at this point. You can expect us to cover topics like:
- any oral issues you’re experiencing
- if treatment is needed immediately or if waiting is recommended
- what treatment options are available to correct the problem
- if any teeth will need to be removed
- an estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
- the total investment required for treatment
- any payment or financing options we have available to you

There are no hidden costs and we’ll always make sure you understand exactly what to expect before treatment ever begins.

What happens next?
Once you’ve decided on a treatment plan with Dr. Scaffidi, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to receive your new orthodontic appliance and start the active phase of treatment.
Depending on the type of appliance you have, you can expect follow-up visits with us every 4-8 weeks or so. At these appointments, Dr. Scaffidi will adjust your appliance if necessary and check that your teeth are moving in a safe and healthy way.
These visits are an essential part of your orthodontic treatment, so it’s important that you don’t miss them. We do our best to schedule you for a day and time that’s convenient for you, but we understand that life isn’t always predictable! If you’re running late or can’t make your appointment for any reason, just let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment for another day. This will help keep your treatment plan progressing as it should be.
