We Believe
Every patient deserves the smile they actually asked for, delivered on the schedule they were promised. Too many people are quoted two years, handed off to whoever is on the floor that day, and told somewhere in year three that these things take time. That is exactly why this practice has one orthodontist, and why he finishes what he quotes.
Why Scaffidi
The result you actually want
You get an engineer's and an orthodontist's expertise on how teeth actually move.
Dr. Scaffidi was an engineer before he was an orthodontist, and he treats tooth movement as exactly that. It is why cases get planned precisely and finished when he said they would.
You get the smile you asked for, often without pulling teeth.
Dr. Scaffidi treats toward the result you want and avoids unnecessary extractions or extra years when he can. Practical results, a comfortable bite, no overtreatment.
You get one accountable orthodontist, and his cell number.
One doctor sees you at every visit and answers directly when something breaks, not a rotating roster and not a call center. Patients describe same-day fixes and a doctor who picks up.

Meet Your Orthodontist
Dr. David Scaffidi
DDS · Orthodontic Specialist
"Orthodontics is engineering of tooth movement." Dr. Scaffidi left an engineering career to say that, and he means it literally, planning the forces and the timing before a single bracket or set of aligners go on. It is why he can tell you at your consult roughly when you will be finished, and why he is able to hold to it. Patients he treated a decade ago now bring him their own kids, and every one of them still has his cell number.

Beyond braces and aligners, Dr. Scaffidi treats the things that never show up in a smile photo: jaw clenching, airway and sleep concerns, and retainers that outlast treatment. The TMJ appliance he developed in-house does not just protect your teeth, it works to stop the clenching underneath the problem.

Frequently asked
orthodontic questions
Do I need a referral to visit Scaffidi Orthodontics?
No referral needed. Call or book online for a free consultation. Most new patients are seen within a few days of reaching out.
Will I actually see Dr. Scaffidi at every visit?
Yes. This is a solo practice, one orthodontist across three locations, and he sees every patient at every visit. You also get his cell number, so a bracket that pops off on a Sunday does not mean leaving a message with a call center.
How long will treatment really take?
You get an estimated treatment time at your consultation, and the case is planned around holding to it. Most patients finish on or ahead of that estimate. If something changes, you hear it from Dr. Scaffidi, not at year three.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost in New Orleans?
It depends on your case, and you get the full number at your free consultation before committing to anything. Within reason, you set the down payment and the monthly payment. Dr. Scaffidi calls it the power of choice.
How do "Power of Choice" payment plans work?
Most offices hand you a few preset payment options and ask you to pick one. Here you build your own: you choose the down payment and the monthly amount that actually fit your budget, and the plan is structured around it, with automatic bank drafts to keep it easy. We accept most major credit cards and insurance plans, and our team will check your orthodontic benefits and handle the claim paperwork for you.
At what age should I schedule an orthodontist appointment for my child?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. That does not mean braces at 7. Often it means watching and waiting, and Dr. Scaffidi would rather tell you to wait than start treatment your child does not need yet.
Am I too old to get braces?
No. A good share of the patients here are adults, including plenty in their 40s and 50s finally treating a smile they have thought about for years. Teeth move at any age.
