How Much Do Braces Cost?

Here at Scaffidi Orthodontics, one of the questions we hear the most when it comes to orthodontic treatment is “How much do braces cost?” There isn’t a straightforward answer to this because each case is unique and each patient will respond to our treatment options differently. Many factors must be considered to determine the cost of your treatment, including:

  • The type of braces chosen
  • Whether the braces are for an adult or a child
  • The orthodontic issues being corrected
  • How long braces will be needed
  • If the patient has dental insurance that covers orthodontics
  • The orthodontist providing treatment
  • The area in which the patient lives and will be receiving treatment

Factors like these will play a part in the total cost of treatment. For example, traditional metal braces are generally the least expensive option, while clear braces or Invisalign clear aligner therapy may cost a little more. Orthodontic treatment for children will often be a bit less expensive than adult treatment, every case will be unique. If you have more severe or complex problems may require longer treatment times, which means more work for the orthodontist and more follow-up appointments.

Finally, each orthodontist will have their own pricing structure which will be based in part on the region where they are located. Some insurance policies will provide coverage for orthodontic treatment, but how much will depend on each insurance policy and the coverage limits. Let’s take a closer look at orthodontic treatment in Slidell, Kenner, and New Orleans!

What does the total cost of treatment include?

There are no hidden costs or unwelcome surprises at Scaffidi Orthodontics. Dr. David Scaffidi will outline everything included in your treatment plan before ever beginning the active phase of the orthodontic process. Our individualized treatment plans contain everything needed for beautiful results that last: all appointments (including emergency visits), braces or aligners, first set of retainers, post-treatment follow-up visits, and an oral hygiene starter pack.

Our fees reflect the skill of our expert team, the quality of the products we use, and the top-notch service we provide. Dr. Scaffidi has years of experience using orthodontics to create healthier smiles in our community. In college, he devoted a lot of attention to writing my paper with experts and researched the topic of ideal orthodontics, which is why he has a significant wealth of knowledge. He understands how much of an investment the cost of braces is for you and your family. He’ll work to help you achieve a confident smile you can enjoy for many years to come!

What is the average cost for braces?

Even though there is no “one size fits all” answer for how much orthodontic treatment will cost, the average amount spent for a child can be anywhere from $3-7K, while adult braces or aligners can run from around $5-8K. Again, the total cost will depend on the individual patient’s specific needs, along with the factors mentioned above.

Dental insurance and orthodontic treatment

Some dental insurance plans will cover orthodontic treatment, but the coverage rules and policies are often confusing. Our team has many years of experience working with insurance companies and we are committed to helping patients receive the maximum coverage.

Each customized treatment plan is based upon the patient’s unique health needs as determined by Dr. Scaffidi’s professional judgment. We won’t recommend treatment solely based on whether or not certain treatment options are covered by insurance. Instead, we’ll give you a plan that will best address your needs and goals.

Before seeing Dr. Scaffidi for a consultation and receiving a diagnosis and treatment plan, those with dental insurance should check with their provider to see what their policy limits are for orthodontic treatment. Plan and bring your insurance information with you to your consultation and our team can look into what your plan covers while you are here in the office.

As a courtesy to our patients, our team will complete and provide you all insurance claims forms.

If insurance will not cover treatment, can the cost be tax deducted?

If braces are considered medically necessary, the dental health care costs associated with them may be tax-deductible. However, the cost has to reach a particular benchmark before any deductions would kick in. It’s important to keep up with any paperwork throughout your treatment if you intend to deduct the costs.

Beautiful smiles are worth the investment at Scaffidi Orthodontics

Braces are about more than improving your cosmetic appearance. Oral health plays an important role in total body health and misaligned teeth can increase your risk of cavities, tooth decay, pain and soreness in your head and neck, and gum disease, among other things. Although orthodontic treatment can be a big investment, it’s one that can last a lifetime!

Your smile is too important to risk comparison shopping based on price alone! It’s human nature to want a good deal, make sure you choose an orthodontist based on his or her skill and experience. You’ll spend quite a bit of time visiting your orthodontist’s office throughout treatment, so it is essential to pick a practice that feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable. At Scaffidi Orthodontics, we provide patients with a positive and stress-free orthodontic experience, from the first appointment to the last. We believe everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable orthodontic care, and work hard to ensure this for every patient.
